Damage to muscle: The correct term is creatine kinase (ck). Creatinine is something else. Useful to know: most "muscle" weakness is actually caused by nerve, not muscle, malfunction. True muscle weakess: myocytes (muscle cells) contain lots of the enzyme ck. Low levels are found in blood normally. Damage to myocyte cell membranes from a variety of causes causes leakage of ck into the blood. Recovery->normalization.

You're healthy: In a dysfunctional health care system that requires physicians to practice defensive medicine, you may be forced to get an ekg or some other cardiac stuff to prove you're not having a heart attack. This is perfectly normal for a guy who works out -- in fact, it's average "in my series" for someone who strength-trains.

Yes: Creatine kinase is a muscle enzyme that is measured to assess heart damage (the mb isoenzyme form) or skeletal muscle damage (the mm isoenzyme). Creatinine is  an endogenous peptide, present in everyone, that is cleared by the kidneys and is measured in clinical practice to estimate kidney function.

Do you lift weights?: If  you lift weights (benchpress), that might be the culprit. The muscles and ligaments that attach to the collarbone are shown in the diagram. If your pain is at one of these places, you likely have a strain from lifting. If you've fallen on your outstretched arm, the same thing can happen. Also, ask your doctor about osteonecrosis (dying bone due to lack of blood supply). Hope that helps!

No: Low creatine kinase never means anything unless you are severely sick, and then it correlates only with what's obvious clinically. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies are arbitrarily outside.

Maybe none: If you exercise, you ck can be very high -- many times the upper limit of normal. The normal range is for couch potatoes. I'm glad you asked, but no lab test means much in isolation. Best to ask your physician and see what matches with your symptoms and lifestyle.

Here's accurate info: Somebody's kidding you or there is a misunderstanding. Creatine kinase is an enzyme found in the blood; the reference range was determined for couch potatoes, and in my series' of athletic medical students, a majority of healthy young people have "elevated levels" just from exercising. It's also high in a few illnesses your physician knows about, but not from "nerves".

Over exercise?: It could be due to medication you are taking or over-exercising.    That level is not high enough to affect your kidneys most likely.    Increase your hydration.
