Never: You can never have too much of a good thing. There is no "excess hdl" disease. Epidemiological studies suggest that the higher your hdl, the lower your risk of heart disease. I've seen a few folks over the last 30 years, with hdls &gt;100. It's rare. None had heart disease.

HDL cholesterol could be naturally high and improves with aerobic exercise. It is protective and nothing happens if it is high (protects from bad cholesterol, LDL, by helping the transport and metabolism  in the liver).
