hello docs. i was wondering can ui take dilaudid and percocet together?

No: They have additive effect. You should take these medication exactly as prescribed to you by your doctor. They're dangerous medications when mixed with alcohol, anti-anxiety and other opiods. See your prescribing physician asap.

can i take dilaudid and percocet together? the dilaudid alone is not working. i have a high tolerance to pain meds due to many chronic illnesses.

Dilaudid /percocet: In my opinion no. Both are short acting and it makes no sense to take two short acting medications together. I would ask why you are not on a long acting baseline medication given your chronic illnesses?

Every 4-6 h: for moderate to severe pain. Better alternate with NSAIDs  (e.g. Toradol). For more information consult with your prescribing physician.

Excessive narcotics: Dilaudid is even stronger than Percocet but both short acting.  Do not mix 2 short-acting narcotics because of increased risk of excessive dose and it confuses your picture.  Your physician needs to prescribe the appropriate short-acting+/- long-acting narcotic, IF INDICATED. More important, MD needs to figure out why no pain relief--fix that problem then Rx should work.  Really suggest see ur MD.

was on dilaudid, percocet,robaxin (methocarbamol) for leg injury.am now only on 1/2 percocet a day.have crying spells for no reason.could this be from coming off med?

R/O WITHDRAWAL: Narcotic withdrawl can occur in this setting. It is dependent on dose of meds and duration, Follow up with your doctor and potentially a pain specialist for treatment options.

major ankle reconst. surg. soon and i'm allergic to vicodin, percocet, dilaudid, bentyl, (dicyclomine) and darvocet. what else is there? nursing a 14 mo old.

Some options: You may need to ask your surgeon about nucynta, (tapentadol) Methadone or even fentanyl as an options.  Methadone  and fentanyl may require a pain specialist to be involved to see if you are able to tolerate them as they are typically long acting medications.

why is it that after my eye muscle surgery dilaudid and percocet did absolutely nothing to alleviate my pain but aleve (naproxen) did?

Not sure: Most eye pain responds poorly to narcotics in my experience.  Aleeve is a great pain reliever for many patients.

i have cancer in my pancreus lung and neck i have been give norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) percocet yhe onky thing that works is generic dilaudid can you please help

Need pain specialist: It sounds like you need to consult a pain management specialist for evaluation and consider hospice help.

Withdrawals: With two opiate medications you are more likely to have withdrawals BUT it depends on how fast you are weaning off. Normally I would recommend reducing the dose by 25% per week. It will of course also depend on how much of each you are taking. If you are on equivalent of about 3 tables a day, there should be no withdrawal. Also, you are not on them for too long so chances of withdrawals are less.
