Infection in  throat: An inflammation in your throat could be causing difficulty swallowing , induced by an infection that could be viral or bacterial.  A simple swab test could determine that, ruling out streptococci mutans infection.

Esophageal Stricture: You may have a narrowing of your esophagus if you are having trouble swallowing anything.  If it is limited to your saliva and not food and drink there should not be a problem with the fluid your glands make to keep your mouth moist and aid in digestion of food.

Dry mouth: Your salivary gland secretion rate may be low when not stimulated. This can be caused by many things, most commonly medications such as antihistamines and decongestants. If you have trouble eating a pack of saltine crackers without the aid of water then you are not making enough saliva. Dry mouth can increase your risk for cavities and gum disease. If this problem persists see a doctor about it.

Not a cancer sign: You don't say why you've been prescribed those medications, but they are serious and your doctors may help you understand your conditions better. Epiglottis: It is common to see the epiglottis in children. With normal growth, the larynx and epiglottis descends lower into the throat. It is much less common to see it in an adult, but it is possible you could see it. If you are getting sick with progressive sore throat, difficulty swallowing and breathing, you need to go to ED ASAP.
