Return to Dr: I like to see my acne patients when things are not working.  There are many variables that effect an individual patient's response to medication.  Your dr may need to change something in your acne regimen.  Early in acne treatment it may appear things are worsening, just before they get better.  Other changes in your health may impact acne as well.  Good luck.

can you get spray tans whilst using differin (adapalene) cream (face)it says not to use products that could clog skin.  i very rarely would get spray tans.

Don't risk it.: I advise you not to risk it.
If you do, wrap your head in a towel, and don't get any spray tan on your face or any other area being treated.

: Adapalene gel prevents new acne lesions but it has no role in the naturally healing process.

Stop it: If you stop using it a couple of days, then your face will improve.  You might not be able to tolerate it every night.  You might consider using it every other night or twice a week if that is tolerated better.  Using it less frequently is still helpful for treating your acne.

Be patient: I am assuming you are taking oral tetracycline and topical differin (adapalene) gel.  In general I tell patients to wait at least 4-6 weeks before deciding a particular treatment works.  Sometimes things will get worse before they get better.

im on differin gel because randomly at the beginning of this year i began to get forehead bumps and small flare ups on face ( when i usually have clear skin) doc provided me with differin but my spots are getting darker and i dont see any results?

Accepted Answer

: Acne is an inflammation of the sebaceous glands of the skin.  After any inflammation, the skin may change color just where the bumps and flare ups were.  This will take time to clear; using a drugstore acne cream may help clear faster but this will happen over weeks to months.  If you feel your skin is worse or the same, consult your prescribing physician.

Accepted Answer

No: Clindamycin is an antibiotic no scar aide.Adapalene is a Retin-A  derative that will control acne and help reduce fine wrinkles. The effects on scars will be minimal at best.
Scars require deep therapy such as fractionated co2 lasers , resurfacing lasers and deep chemical peels applied by  properly trained physicians

: It will fade out eventually.
Adapalene gel is now available over the counter.

i had mild acne and went to my doctor for a solution, i was told to get differin gel and benozyl peroxide cleanser. ive been using these for about 3 months now and seen great results, when should i stop using it and what helps with all the scars?

Accepted Answer

: The scars would fade away over a period of time. You could stop the treatment if you have improvement; however acne is a reoccuring thing. and you may need to continue intermittent treatment in the future. It is a good thing that you found what is likely to work for you; and you could use make up to cover scars as they slowly fade away.

See Skin Care Doctor: You should see a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon who treats skin problems.
They will treat you for the acne and the scars at the same-time with various creams and medications.
