what is the difference between omeprazole and omeprazole magnesium?

No difference: Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (ppi). It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. I can find no difference in the literature between Omeprazole & Omeprazole magnesium except in the way different companies formulate it.

Very little: If you have a low magnesium level in the blood stream on testing Omeprazole is not going to correct this.  You should try magnesium oxide or magnesium protein plus.  Avoid magnesium citrate because it induces diarrhea and this may worsen your magnesium levels.

Headache, diarrhea: If you're referring to headache and diarrhea, these are both very common Prilosec side effects that should resolve once the drug is discontinued. Many other acid blockers in the ppi class share these side effects. Worrisome symptoms however, unrelated to Prilosec but that mimic a "stomach bug" would include: bleeding, weight loss, persistent vomiting, signs of gut obstruction. See doc if concerned

Yes: PPIs appear to inhibit active magnesium absorption and common symptoms of magnesium depletion are weakness, tremors, and muscle twitching) Omeprazole is the most likely PPI to cause low blood magnesium and induced low blood magnesium causes low blood calcium over 1/2 ofthe time.Lower dose is betterif does the job.

magnesium was 0.85 years ago and now 0.68 been on omeprazole years. if its that causing it to drop am i at risk of it dropping very low fast?

That's not fast: But Omeprazole can reduce Mg and B-12 as well as lower gastric acidity which interferes with digestion.  You are young to be on omeprazole for years.  Ask if you can take a "drug holiday" from it.

i've been dizzy all day, i'm taking 20mg omeprazole twice a day and 250mg magnesium taurate. which one is likely to cause dizziness? is this serious?

Likely neither: I am sorry to hear this. Omeprazole has only a 1.5% reported rate of dizziness and Magnesium Taurate also rarely if ever causes dizziness itself.It is unlikely that your dizziness is due to either of this medications.If your dizziness is affecting your life to the point were you can't function than I would suggest seeing your doc. Otherwise continue to monitor, and see if the dizziness goes away.

No: Omeprazole can affect absorption of a number of medications, but fortunately not amox/clav.  It is safe to take both together with no dosage adjustment or special considerations.

: Omeprazole and other drugs in its class (proton pump inhibitors) will commonly deplete the body of magnesium. Taking magnesium will likely help with this. A magnesium supplement with a better absorption rate is important. Magnesium citrate, oxide, and sulfate tend to commonly cause loose stools. Magnesium glycinate has a high bioavailability with fewer side effects. 200mg is a reasonable dose.
