can i get a pap smear during ovulation spotting?

No reason not: Sure you can. If you are bleeding heavily enough, you might call the office to see if they want you to reschedule the pap - but bleeding that heavy isn't just form ovulation.

what could be the cause for experiencing ovulation spotting? i have been experiencing this for about a year and some months now. consulted with a gp in may all tests came back negative, pap smear included. there is no pain. please help. thank you?

Many reasons: This could be due to many reasons you can have an irritation on your cervix you can have polyps within the uterus you can have not enough estrogen or and or progesterone I would suggest getting seen by an OB/GYN for this

Nothing Wrong: The Pap likely had nothing to do with this; most likely, your 'corpus luteal cyst' failed, and your period is early. This small cyst is normal, every cycle, and is where the ovum/egg was growing, preparing for ovulation. Could have been a blighted ovum in the first place. You'll have to wait for next month!

No: A pap smear is usually a painless procedure with no resulting symptoms. It can be normal to notice an increased amount of discharge during ovulation. However if you are experiencing discomfort you should be examined.

Check ovaries: If you are not ovulating, you need to be seen and evaluated. You may have an ovarian cyst!

You may need to: check for a vaginal infection.  If there are no other symptoms, such as vaginal itching, discharge, odor, etc.  then you may be starting irregular spotting/ periods with your hormone cycle approaching menopause.  It could be very early on, or minor spotting may be a fluke.  But monitor your symptoms and your irregularity well.p

Could be very.: The pap smear is a way to find cervical cancer before it becomes serious. Cervical cancer is a sexually transmitted disease and young women are at highest risk of the disease.  If you have had abnormal paps, infection with the hpv virus or multiple sex partners you may be at risk for cervical cancer and should have discussion about appropriate screening with your doctor.

Very: As it checks to make sure you have no precancer or cancer of the cervix and you can be checked for stds  and also when you have the pap a breast and pelvic exam is also done to r/o other potential problems before they could become serious.
