Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity at tolerated.

diarrhea, nausea, pain in the stomach, strange anxiety insomnia for 5 days. got cat scan and iv no problems. what do i have? what can i do? gastroent?

Maybe psych., see GI: You have a wide variety of symptoms.  Something in the anxiety realm seems likely given your normal ct scan.  Insomnia, nausea, and stomach pains can all be physical symptoms of psychiatric illness (i.e. Anxiety).  I think seeing a gastroenterologist is a good first step to ensure there is no GI problem, but if the symptoms then continue, it might be worthwhile to see psychiatry/psychology.

i get diarrhea and loose stool everyday. doctors dont know what to do. i am suffering. negative tests include: xrays,  ultrasound, stool, blood, sibo, colonoscopy, cat scan. pepto helps sometimes. immodium makes me worse. please help?

: That is distressing indeed.  If you have had gallbladder out then colestipol could help; if not, fiber supplements can sometimes help rebalance the colon, or perhaps probiotics.  In certain situations Dr will prescribe a round of antibiotics like doxycycline to help rebalance gut bacteria.  Unusual for Imodium to make it worse.

Stool studies: Would recommend stool studies. If negative, a gastroenterology consult with consideration for colonoscopy should help.

Lactose intolerance?: It is good that you had a normal CT scan and bloodwork as that can exclude many anatomical issues including appendicitis, colitis, infection or tumor.  Are there certain foods that make this worse?  Do you see a relationship to dairy products?  What about wheat products?  Should consider lactose intolerance or possibly celiac disease.  I would consult with  GI specialist at this point

GI Eval??: Have you been evaluated by a GI doctor? Have you had x-rays, colonoscopy, stool studies? Have you been on antibiotics? You need a thourough eval. May be due to diet, but need more detailed evaluation.

Ibs: is a conditions and u may have frequent bms normal or watery. Steatorrhea is a sign of fatty stools due to malabsorption syndrome which needs a ge consult.

how accurate is a ct scan?

Difficult to say: A CT scan is a mathematical model of the inside of whatever body part is being scanned, based on the measurement of attenuation of the x-ray beam from multiple points on the outside. The accuracy is determined by whether a specific size abnormality can be seen, which varies with different diseases. A  CT abnormality  seen is accurate, but the disease causing this may not be easily determined.

how can a ct scan actually work?

Multiple projections: A  ct cross-sectional image (slice) is reconstructed from a combination of xrays shot from multiple directions/projections; therefore, there is no overlap of body parts and much better contrast compares to traditional xray images..

could cmml be diagnosed without a ct scan?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Blood tests and bone marrow biopsy can diagnose CMML.  CT may be useful to detect enlarged spleen or adenopathy, but it is not diagnostic.
