See answer: Zinc oxide application may take some time to help. Diaper free time also helps. U may need to get an antifungal cream    ( now a days available over the counter) like clotrimazole( LOTRIMIN) and try that. If these fail u shd see a pediatrician or a dermatologist and get a proper diagnosis to get proper treatment.

Stop using diapers!: Diaper rash is not caused by urine or by stool, it is caused by diapers. Changing frequently and changing brands can help. In severe cases, put the baby on absorbent sheets and don't use a diaper at all until the rash is gone. It is messy, but it works. If the rash is already severe, you will need help from your babies doctor.

Keep dry and clean: Both urine and stool can be very irritating to a baby's skin, leading quickly to a diaper rash. The best treatment is to avoid it in the first place. Keep the area clean and dry, using a moisture barrier such as vaseline to keep material off the skin. If it appears, again keep it dry and clean, and use a thick coat of the moisture barrier, allowing the skin to heal. See the doctor if it persists.

Barrier cream: That type of diaper rash is usually caused by looser stools or diarrhea.  I recommend using a barrier cream like a;d or desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) to keep the stool away from the  baby's skin.  You can also apply some vaseline on top of the cream and when you change his diaper you can wash off the stool and the vaseline with the vegetabel sprayer at the sink and then just pat him dry and apply cream and vaseline.

The : The simplest cream to start with would be a zinc oxide paste and frequent diaper changes.  That will help reduce the irritation in the area.  If that doesn't help, i would recommend a trip to your pediatrician or dermatologist to further classify the rash and prescribe appropriate treatment.  I hope that helps.

Maybe: If your baby's diaper rash is not responding to zinc cream, it may need a prescription from your doctor.  There are several different things that can cause diaper rashes in infants.  I would recommend taking the baby to see your doctor to determine if a different type of treatment is needed based on the way the rash looks and that regular diaper cream isn't helping.

May be yeast: Babies can actually get yeast infections of their diaper area.  It usually looks like beefy red bumps that are fairly close together, and they may be on a red patch of skin.  Sometimes the skin even breaks open.  If this is the case, an anti fungal cream added to his normal diaper cream helps clear up symptoms.  Please have your doctor take a look.

Triple paste: I find the best ointment for bad diaper rash is something called triple paste (available in drug stores without prescription). It is really thick and does a nice job of helping a raw case of diaper rash to heal.
