Yes: Take care not to compress your fistula access while lying down.   Catheter exit sites need to remain covered.

If a pd access, keep your exit site covered with gauze.

Clean & Squeeze: Dialysis is both about cleaning (dialysis) the blood of toxins and squeezing (ultra-filtering) excess fluid out. Both functions are done constantly in patients with normal function.   Missing a session puts you 4-5 days between treatments and at risk for electrolyte and/or fluid retention problems.

Dialysis Patients: should take NOTHING in the way of Nutritional additions, Vitamins , Herbals  etc etc etc WITHOUT CLEARANCE FROM their RENAL Physician!!!

Dialysis: Darkening of the skin in dialysis patients is thought to be due to sun exposure and the build up certain chemicals in the body die to renal failure.

No: I would strongly advise you against swimming or taking a bath. On the other hand if you cover your catheter exit site with plastic wrap and tape you can take a shower.

It acts: As a means by which you can take blood out, run it through the machine (acting as the kidneys) and returning it to the body.  It connects blood in the artery to the vein in a way that can be repeatedly punctured with a needle but is also low enough pressure that it won't bleed.

If too much fluid is removed. Patients can feel dizzy at the end of treatment.  During the treatment, the blood pressure will drop, alerting the staff to decrease fluid removal.

Dialysis: It is best to ask your Nephrologist this question, as they know what is right and needed for you and your situation.

: This is definitely a discussion to have with your nephrologist (kidney specialist).  Some dialysis patients can tolerate low dose viagra.  It depends on other medications, and other health problems you may have, if viagra would be safe and effective.

Accepted Answer

Possibly: If patient is on dialysis, we assume there is little functional kidney left, but kidneys, ureters, and bladder may still develop cancer, especially if patient is a smoker.  It should be investigated.
