Colchicine: Colchicine, that I see listed in your meds, is alternatively used in higher than maintenance doses to control inflammation in gout attacks. Was the diagnosis made clinically or based on crystals seen on the aspirate? Talk to your treating doctor since is unusual for a gout attack to last so long.

No: If taken for a short period of time the long-term side effects are minimal.  But taken chronically it can causes changes in bone tissue.

Normal: Hi. Your doctor ran a standard screening test for Cushing's syndrome, the overnight dexamethasone suppression test. Your cortisol in response to dexamethasone suppressed normally (normal cortisol suppression should be less than 1.8 or so). Therefore, the data are consistent with you not having Cushing's syndrome.

Maybeif not watched: Dexamethasone is an antiflmmatory steroid. It be used orally in the past for asthma and is still use for short peroids of time for asthma, croup, poison ivy, ect.Used over entende periods of time slows the growth velocity and thus should be monitored. Children who have chronic inflammatory or autoimmune diseases may have to take steroids for extended periods weigh the risk benefit ratio.

It is not listed: as a serious or common side effect but would not be surprised.  I would recommend discussing a trial off the medication with the prescriber, if safe, and see if the dysguesia resolves.

im 35. no medical illness or taking any meds. no allergies. i took dexamethasone 8mg 1 dose only. i have rashes at groin, leg and neck. i also have insomnia. wht should i do? should i be worry? how long it last? is this dangerous for health?

: Are you worried about the dexamethasone, which is equivalent to 50 mgs of prednisone, or the rash?  The dexamethasone can cause insomnia or stomach irritation, elevation of pulse &amp; BP but side effects will gradually wear off in a day or so since it's a one time dose. Your MD or a dermatologist will have to advise you about your rash.

19mo old given decadron (dexamethasone) 3 day in er for amox allergy. hives return in extreme next day. prescibed prednisdone 3 oral doses.  we are on day 7 of hives can i just continue w/benedrayl vs more steroids?
