Depakine Chrono: Depakine chrono is not available in the us, but we have other forms of valproic acid here.  It has multiple mechanisms, including increasing GABA (an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the cns).  It might also work by suppressing repeated neuronal firing by inhibiting voltage-sensitive sodium channels. It can prevent partial and generalized seizures, including absence seizures.

: Symbyax combines antidepressants fluoxetine and antipsychotic Olanzapine. In bipolar disorder depakene and Symbyax are recommended for therapy. It is clear that these two medications are ok together but should be taken under the care of psychiatrist. Hope it helps.

Was there a cause?: Repetitive seizures usually are a result of some toxic state.  Causes can be alcohol or drug withdrawal, metabolic imbalance, toxic encephalopathy from viral or toxin effects, trauma, severe sleep disorder, etc.  Just loading up on medication may not be the correct treatment.  You need a thorough medical and neurological evaluation.

The drugs mess u up: Not so much the epilepsy that leads to ED...but definitely the drugs and their combination with each other can be big time cause of ED.

Yes but taper: The Depakene (valproic acid) doesn't come in 200mg dose- perhaps 250mg......It does take time to work so be patient....Give it time (up to 3-4 weeks) as part of pain management...Unless side effects are intolerable..Please talk to your prescriber. There are other "nerve blocking" agents that can be a part of pain management. If you tapered up, please taper down. But after one week- ok to stop.

Possible side effect: Your son needs to see his neurologist and discuss his medication.  He may need a medication change, and possible blood work for evaluation.

Depakene (valproic acid): Liquid Depakote is a mood stabilizer, &amp; should be ok with the Antidepressant Remeron, (mirtazapine) unless otherwise advised by your doctor.

Testosterone: your testosterone level is normal.  If you are experienced decreased libido, energy and ED you should see a urologist.  Also discuss the meds with the doctor who prescribed them

as i get depakine for epilepsy by 2 tablets daily & lyrica (pregabalin) for herniated disc in back

See below: Depakene (valproic acid) or Depakote and Lyrica (pregabalin) are both antiseizure medications. They have a different mechanism of action but both can work to calm down overactive nerves in both the brain, spinal cord and the nerves outside of the spinal cord. Both can be used for pain conditions that are caused by overactive or damaged nerves. We often use more than one together because they work differently.
