Yes.: Fluoride varnish is recommended by the ada not only for children but adults as well. It decreases sensitivity, strengthens the enamel, and has anti bacterial properties as well. It is particularly recommended for adults with gum recession and root exposure to reduce the risk of cavities.

No: The most commonly performed bariatric (weight loss) surgery procedures are laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding and roux-en-y gastric bypass. There are some other surgical procedures, such as sleeve gastrectomy and jejunoileal bypass, in addition to liposuction, but i don't know of any methods involving laser therapy yet.

Light: A laser is a single wavelength of light.  It can be used for many cosmetic procedures as well as surgical procedures to include the eyes and other body organs. It can be used from the medical arena to the defense artillary arena and many other fields in between.

Tiny blind spot: If the laser beam you glanced at was of sufficient power to cause damage, it would burn the light receptors in it s path, destroying the ability to see at that point.  You would  notice with the eye that got exposed, a tiny blind spot.  This would gradually fade from your consciousness over time as the other eye would see at that point but you could always find it from the affected eye.

Infection: The procedure is designed to cause less operative trauma to your back.  Smaller holes will heal faster.  You still risk getting an infection but precautions are taken.  Bad response to anesthesia is another risk.  Not getting better after the surgery is another risk. Results re back pain getting better are much less promising.
