Floss/ flosspick: both are effective if used properly, though flosspicks cant always get under fixed bridgework.   around temporary crowns regular floss is preferable as it can be removed with a lesser chance of dislodging the crowns

Floss: while not the most ideal, in a pinch sure, but if too thin may shred, if too thick may get caught between the teeth,  but i would advise again as a regular hygiene practice.

Yes & No: There is no problem with using floss a lot.  However the floss can be damaging if you allow it to cut the gum.  Then you now have a wound that swells and bleeds and a great place for bacteria to collect.

Gently.......: Gently raise up, when stuck, gently pull toward one of the two teeth, then gently downward.  You should then be able to pull string out because there is a space at the base of the tooth near the gum and often no space where  teeth meet at the biting edge.  If doesn't do the trick, gently rinse and swish around with warm salt water, let it sit for a while & try again.Tug up a bit harder this time.

Try........: Hopefully you should be able to work it out with a new piece of dental floss, preferably waxed or dental tape. If you still have a problem you will have to see a dentist to ensure that it is all out and you don't have a broken filling, decay, or a rough margin on the filling.

DEPENDS....: In many cases you can remove it by using another floss, knotted and pulled through, but in some cases  (like when you have deeper pockets and thicker gums around your teeth) you can even cause the piece go in deeper inside. This may cause an inflammation and tenderness due to foreign body reaction. See your dentist to check it out.

Dental floss: Fluoride dental floss may be a better option than regular dental floss because Fluoride is able to be applied directly in between those hard to reach places.  There is not enough information to determine if it gives your mouth a significant benefit over just flossing with flioride free floss.  Flossing period is the real issue. Floss at least twice daily.

Gum inflames: As with anything, a piece of floss is a foreign body and will cause foreign body reaction, or inflammation,  when trapped inside your gum.  The swollen gum will help to ease the removal or falling out of the floss and the situation will resolve on its own.  Brush the area thoroughly, then schedule with your dentiist to follow up if the area still bleeds after couple days.  Usually it will resolve.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Any foreign body stucked in your gum will cause a foreign body reaction which leads ot inflammation and drainage and irritation.
