3 weeks after achilles surgery/fhl transfer/debride/lengthening it has started being very painful in calf when standing up. is this normal?

Accepted Answer

No: Calf tenderness could be a sign of DVT (blood clot).  With the immobilization, 49 yo female and possibly other risk factors you do have to be evaluated immediately. Call/page your surgeon right away for further instructions.

i got my wound debrided on monday, silversorb has been applied to aid in moist wound healing, since tues, theres a black spot over the skin near wound?

Hard to say: A black spot could mean the skin is dead in that area and there could be some type of infection there. However, it could be a spot where a little blob of silver oxidized and wouldn't be serious. You might be able to tell more by very gently trying to wash the area. If it comes right off, and the skin looks normal underneath, no worries.

i had shoulder surgery 3.5 weeks ago. i had a bicep tenodesis, 13 anchor full labrum repair, and a 20% supraspinatus tear debrided. i'm still having decent pain throughout the day. is asking for medication appropriate?

: It will likely take several months for you to recover and stabilize.  Hopefully, you are scheduled for physical therapy.  Medication choices are between the doctor and patient, and if you feel the need for more aggressive intervention, suggest a comprehensive appointment with your doctor to thoroughly discuss your ongoing symptoms and limitations.

i had a large lipoma removed from just above scapular area. 2 weeks later, wound reopened and got infected, wound was debrided and stitched 2 weeks ago. can i resume lower body exercises? do i need to wait for 8 weeks to resume upper body exercises?

Surgeon's rec's: Would suggest following closely the surgeon's recommendations. While light lower body exercises may be OK, would suggest getting clearance from the surgeon at follow up for the upper body exercises and in the context of described postsurgical complications.

i did concha removal from rt side and sinus surgery 2 week.doc used debrider to cut bone of rt side. still breathing problem rt side. time to heal?

Nasal surgery: It's far too early to expect a great airway due to the post-op swelling and scanning. Ask your surgeon for reassurance.

Do what it takes.: I'm not sure that we are on the same page as to the meaning of necrosis. Having said that, any tissue that could have a statistical compromising influence on the successful out come of the surgery, should be dealt with appropriately.

im 40 male.history of knee issues and surgeries inc 2x acl.8 week post arthroscope part meniscectomy,fat pad debride/chrondroplasty for pseudo locking and pain. now very reactive to dynamic stuff.swells.active pain.night pain worse.why not settling?

Low likelihood: Sternal clavicular septic arthritis is an unusual form of septic arthritis generally seen in diabetics.  It is usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus though Gram negatives can cause this.  Given the definitive procedure of washout and cartilage removal was performed, the risk of relapse is low.  Work on addressing the risk factors that led this.  Best wishes.

Usually if &gt;50%: If the tear measures over 50% of the width of the tendon your Dr. will most likely recommend surgery. You can try PT but pain can limit the effectiveness.
