Mucous: Without placing your mucous under a microscope to examine it, it is impossible to know what these are, but usually represents particles from the air. Do you live where there is a great deal of air pollution?

when i vomit there is little bits of mucus with little specs of blood an i've been having trouble eating what does this mean?

Inflammation: Inflammation or ulceration of the lining of the stomach, esophagus or duodenum can cause these symptoms. Less likely would be a tumor.  If they don't resolve easily with bland diet, antacids or prilosec, get checked.

i had a sinus infection that went from yellow to clear and no more symptoms.4 days later its all still clear but had 2 specs of yellow mucus for the first time again.am i still sick or is it old mucus flushing out?

Likely old mucous: or sometimes, secretions can dry and appear yellow.  If you are feeling well compared to a week ago, you are on the path to recovery.

Snot: Nasal congestion usually the result of some type of allergy or rhinorrhea. Most common cause is viral from a rhinovirus, however could be bacterial.  Your brown color is likely from some bleeding which is not uncommon for the nasal mucosa to bleed.

Mucus color: Typically the color of your mucus represents what is happening with the bacteria that is trapped there. When you first get ill its a yellow color often, and then changes to green as your body starts to fight infection. Viral infections tend to be more of a clear color. Other possible reasons- but this is the most common.

Cough: In general, a symptom of coughing can be a sign of a viral or bacterial infection.  Cough specific syrups or tablets are readily available for relief. Decongestant medicines can help if the cough is related to sinus drainage. Giving the cough ample time to clear is advisable but if you develop fevers, shortness of breath, chest pains, or bloody sputum, it may be time to see your doctor.

my eldest son, now 2 1/2 sneezed. mucus came out, but  also a foreign egg shaped, hollow item. it is very dark green in colour. ?

Foreign body: At that age with that description this is likely something he shoved up his nose that he sneezed out. You are lucky it didn't stay longer. From foam pieces to food to beads or other toy parts kids do strange things. The longer it stays the worse they smell and the more potential for a nasal infection.

Do not worry: This represents old blood (brown) that has taken its time to be released by your uterus. It is natural to have with virtually every mense.
