Mosquito bites: Probably not, but without actually seeing these have no way to really know. If you have no other symptoms but redness they are probably fine, but if develop pustules, the redness spreads, is tender, painful or hot you should get these examined professionally.

Skin abscess: You must be seen, examined, evaluated and treated. I t is impossible to tell you which insect did this; however, a small, white, hard area can be from fire-ants. If you see yellow or yellow green pus, you must be examined.

Hives or bites: Itchy red bumps on your neck may be hives from an allergy to something internal or something which contacts your neck. Insect bites are possible if the bumps last longer than 24 hours. Benadryl(causes drowsiness) or Claritin (loratadine) may help. Cortisone type cream may also offer relief.

: Spreading redness raises concern for cellulitis, a serious bacterial skin infection requiring oral or IV antibiotics. The bite with the red brown bruise indicates that there was some bleeding within the skin. You should be examined &amp; advised by a physician.

Some options: Store aloe vera gel in the refrigerator and apply to affected area.  Rub a basil leaf on the bite. It repels mosquitoes & has anti-inflammatory properties effect. Consider applying calamine lotion. Apply crushed ice or a cold pack.   A 1 to 1 mix of water and baking soda is effective when applied to the lesions. You can take oral medications like Benadryl (diphenhydramine)  or chlorpheniramine.

No: A bug bite is usually ok if it looks like a typical small (1/4 to 1 inch wide) mosquito or flea bite.  If there is a lot of swelling, a doctor should check to see if it is just an allergic reaction or is actually infected.  If the bite area has stuff oozing out of it, or if the area is painful, one should see a doctor to examine for infection. Mosquito bites are usually not that painful.

You : You should see a physician to get the tick carefully removed.  Some ticks are capable of transmitting disease, including lyme disease.  The tick can be sent to a lab to determine the risk.  You may need antibiotic treatment. Failure to treat an infectious tick bite can have long-term consequences.
