On the other hand eating green leafy vegetables can lead to green stool.  Green cabbage, lettuce, peas, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, green salad, green leaves, celery & green beans as well as food that contains green food coloring can lead to green stool. Consider this...: Although much of stool is the bacterial flora of your gut, what you eat plays a big role in gut motility, effectiveness of digestion, stool pattern/appearance. Fiber supplements increase bulk &amp; therefore stool volume. Adequate fluids avoid dessicated stool. Stool color is very dependent on ingestants.Also, diet modification, exercise, bleeding changes food transit time &amp; the resulting stool.

Call ur doctor: dark stool can be “melena” - black tarry reflecting often upper GI bleeding (eg stomach/duodenum) unless u take iron, certain medications, or certain blackened foods. Given ur history pancreatitis, would be concerned esp re pale stool whether gallstones involved or alcohol with any medications that make u prone to bleed like aspirin/motrin - happy to consult further but suggest calling ur MD

: Change in stool color depends mostly on your diet, less likely the stool transit time. Of course, some diseases can change to stool color, such as bleeding from your upper GI tract can make the stool dark black or the stool becomes light or even white when the bile duct is obstructed.

had a grape soda last night. this am 1/2 of bowel movement was ok. the other 1/2 was dark green.  is that normal?  should i worry?

See you take bisacodyl - that could ^ transit time.

i had an appendectomy yesterday because of appendicitis. i just now had a bowel movement and it is dark green. could appendicitis be why it is green?

NO: Dark green indicates rapid passage of succus entericus through the colon, probably due to pre op irritation

Everyone different: It is very difficult to command your bowels. In general diets high in vegetable matter will produce more rapid transit times.  A bowel movement every few days or a few per day is normal.

See ur Doctor soon: Bleeding from rectum in a young person should be evaluated by a doctor ASAP. Hemorrhoid is one possibility, inflammatory bowel dzz, such as Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis is another. U need to be examined ASAP. Feel better.
