: Daktarin, or miconazole, is an antifungal prescribed for mild oropharyngeal candidiasis. There is no significant adverse side effects to the liver while taking this medication for short term, however caution is advised if there is pre-existing liver disease

i had some vaginal itching about 2 months ago. the gynae gave me gyna-daktarin vaginal cream. unfortunately the itching is back with a condensed milk type discharge. what over the counter treatment is available?

Try azole derivative: Monistat-3 ( miconazole) or Terazol ( terconazole) -3 vaginal suppositories or cream with applicator., if not allergic to these medicines. Itching with white discharge suggests a yeast infection; however, if having unprotected intercourse, get an STD screen.No thong underwear, no oral oral penile sex for 1 week. Cotton boxers. Good luck.

i have dark spots on my arms, thighs and legs. also had oral thrush but it cleares after using daktarin oral gel. i am a smoker. do i have hiv?

Depends...: The only way to know if you have HIV is to be tested.  Does your life style promote the risk of HIV?  Do you have unprotected sex with multiple partners? etc.  That being said,  Your skin symptoms are not specific for HIV.  Have your brown spots looked at by a dermatologist and at the same time ask him/her to test you for HIV

Possible?: These are possible findings in HIV and thus you need to get tested if you have known risk factors . However there may be other explanations should your HIV test turn out to be negative.

my mouth is coated with a furry texture. been like that for over a year.  my dr first suggested i use andolex mouth wash.  then went on to flagyl, nystacid oral suspension and daktarin gel.  this year, tried canesten troche lozengers. nothing helps?

Furry coating: Please see a Dentist, preferably a specialist in Oral Medicine, for evaluation and treatment.  Has anyone done a swab/test for oral flora balance?  You may have fungal overgrowth because of antibiotic suppression of normal bacteria.

i got resin veneers in my upper teeth last summer and since then i've presented a constant burning sensation in my tongue. daktarin oral gel, oral wound support gel, and difflam been tried as per gp's advice, nothing has worked. may it be an allergy?

Varies: Daktarin oral gel is Miconazole 2%.  It usually takes several days to see improvement but you should not stop using it once it has improved. Continue taking it for several days after it has resolved to help prevent recurrence.
Mycelex troches can also be used and are probably easier to use since they are lozenges that you let slowly dissolve in your mouth.

Mucocele: When a salivary gland becomes obstructed, fluid builds up resulting in a mucocele.
If it persists, see your dentist.
It is not a serious problem.
