Cymbalta allergy: Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a selective serotonin &amp; norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant (SSNRI) that is used to treat depression, generalized anxiety disorder &amp; pain (like fibromyalgia or joint pain from arthritis). Allergic reactions could include swelling of tongue, throat, lips, mouth, hives or difficulty breathing.

i have been taking cymbalta (duloxetine) & concerta for 4 days in the morning.  i took motrin and claritin for my allergies and feel slightly dizzy/weak?

Not likely meds...: Allergies often affect fluids in the middle ear & may explain "dizziness". I would not expect the combo of meds you mentioned, to be "causing" the problem: Concerta is a stimulant; cymbalta, (duloxetine) an anti-depressant. Drink plenty of fluids to mitigate against dehydration playing any role in your feeling weak and/or dizzy.

With caution: There is a caution about combining the two agents as both can increase the risk of bleeding, by different mechanisms. This however would be true of any serotonergic antidepressant. You should discuss any concerns you have the prescribing physicians.

See ans: Cymbalta and Paxil (paroxetine) interaction may cause serotonin syndrome, which is from too much serotonin in the nervous system. Symptoms are dose-related and potentially quite serious. Discuss with prescribing doctor. I hope this helps.

Depends: I don't know how drug plans work in Canada, but here south of the border, Cymbalta (duloxetine) isn't resorted to unless the patient has tried and failed a number of other drugs; or, if they also have a pain condition that Cymbalta (duloxetine) is approved to treat. If that doesn't apply to you, then many of the later-generation antidepressants and anxiolytics are now available as generics.
