Stroke vs TIA: Stroke really refers to a neurological event where this is sign of damage.  A tia, is a transient stroke like episode where studies are often normal.  A bit unusual to have a "stroke" and not see anything on mri, but certainly not impossible.  Might miss signs of damage on a ct scan.  Stroke in young people is unusual and hope that you have a complete evaluation.

Stroke implies obstruction of blood vessels to brain or spinal cord.  Gbs affects peripheral nervous system not directly brain or spinal cord;.

Delirium: Symptoms suggest delirium that is a poor prognosis sign post stroke. Meds and other conditions such as infections or metabolic are commonly involved. Make sure the patient gets to be examined by his treating neurologist and ask for palliation of symptoms.

This is due to temporary occlusion of the aren't decry of the brain. In contrast a stroke with residual defects occur when an artery is completely blocked. At this time it is not reversible.

Duration of symptoms: A TIA is a transient event where the brain is deprived of adequate blood flow. The time course is less than one hour, and there are no permanant effects. Lay people use the term mini-stroke, but it is an inappropriate term. A cva is ususally not an accident. A cause is found in most cases. Stroke symptoms last greater than an hour and have residual deficits.Mri/ct imaging + in stroke, negative tia.

Several months: if it is for a truly elective surgery like a knee replacement, I would recommend waiting 4 months or so.

If it is for something that has some urgency to it, would wait 2 months.
