Sharp things. Leave : Cuts on tongue - caused by eating sharp things no doubt. One has to ask how the cuts would be obtained more than once, but that may just be my slow thinking. They should heal if you leave them alone.

Cuts ? With blood?: Or just "crevices?" if there's blood, see your dentist asap. (well, you could wait until monday if they've been there your whole life!) if no blood, then likely just a normal variation in 2-5% of people called "fissured tongue" that does not require treatment. i cut my tongue eating cracker bread! how long will it take to heal its not deep surface cut i think, as the side of my is hurting ?

Usually a few days: Depending upon how deep the cut is.

Keep the area very clean, use colgate peroxyl peroxide rinse to clean the area to keep out debris and promote healing.

If it becomes quite red, painful, swollen or oozes pus from an infection, immediately see your dentist.

Usually no problem.: Usually a small laceration on your tongue is no problem and will heal by itself. Location and size of laceration will obviously effect the healing. Simply ask your dentist for help with your specific situation.

Tongue issues: The white color on your tongue can probably be removed with a tongue scraper sold at pharmacies\ supermarkets. However, there are other conditions that cause it that may need dental treatment.  If necessary, see your dentist. For the cut, avoid hot and spicy foods, and rinse with salt water.  There is not much else that you can do.  It should heal quickly. If not, see your dentist.

Should self heal: Tongue injuries should heal completely within a few days.  Drinking adequate water and doing mouth rinses frequently may help speed healing.

HIV: Sounds like you're having some pretty common health annoyances &amp; are worried they're due to HIV. First, the chance of of getting HIV from 1 encounter is very low (1 in 1250 exposures for vaginal penetration). The oral HIV tests are pretty accurate (about 92%) but to be extra sure and give you peace of mind, call your gyn or PCP to get a blood test. It's quick and confidential. Good luck!
