i have a cut behind my ear that keeps coming back. how can i stop it from reoccurring. it has been happening over the past 7 days.

Healing: Was this an injury? If so it may take a few more days to heal. Avoid irritating the area with hairbrush,comb,eye glasses,etc. Keep the area clean and dry and apply bacitracin once daily. Have your physician examine it if healing doesn't heal.

Local care: Blot the area with hydrogen peroxide (kills staph), clean the site, then dry the area. Make a note to check it briefly a couple times a day. It should seal over within a few days and heal nicely in a week.

Perforations: Details of your specific case are important, but in general, small perforations can be attempted to be repaired with a paper patch on the office.  Larger perforations, usually require a graft. It depends where the perforation is positioned to determine if an in-the-canal or post- auricular approach is used. Regardless, recovery is about a week of light activity  and 3 weeks of dry ear precautions.

Few things: This could be caused by nerve irritation stemming from your upper cervical (neck) spine. It could also be related to your mastoid bone. If you have had any recent infections, such as an ear infection, that infection can migrate to your mastoid bone and cause complications. You also have some muscle attachments just at the base of your skull that could lead to pain in the area. Hope that helps!

Node or osteoma: A hard bump could be a lymph node but these usually are mobile.  Sometimes the bone behind the ear (mastoid) is not smooth so may feel bumpy.  If it sits right behind the ear lobe it could either be a part of the second cervical vertebra or a parotid salivary tumor which can be firm and slow growing.  If it is enlarging i suggest it should be evaluated.

Go Tomorrow to Doc: Symptoms and an enlarged, hard, unresolving lymph node needs prompt evaluation to ensure it is not a cancer (lymphoma).  It likely will need to be excised and taken to the lab for cell analysis. You also will likely need blood testing.

Don't sit on this. It must be evaluated sooner rather than later.

Probably normal : Moveable is always better. If it's painless and asymptomatic, 1cm is normal. If it's starts having symptoms or grows, would be reasonable to work up further or consider removing.
