Q: 26 yo male with irregular heartbeat(<10 second episodes) multiple ekgs, stress echo, and cta of heart all show unremarkable. what could be the cause?

Probably benign: PVCs ( premature ventricular contractions) or APCs (atrial premature contractions) best diagnosed with a 24 hour cardiac monitor performed and reviewed by a board certified cardiologist.

Q: 27/f, tightening/squeezing in my chest for 4 days now & night nausea for about 2 wks. neg. ekg, cxr, cta for heart/lung problems_what could be going on?

Chest sx: There are other possibilities , esophageal reflux would be a prominent possibility.

Q: is an mra of the heart just as good as a cta of the heart?

Not yet: Advantages: no need for iodine based contrast, no radiation disadvantages: not fast enough to handle moving structure like the heart. Better for still objects.

Q: they cancelled my heart cta and sent me home. couldn't get my heart rate to 60 or less, even using iv metoprolol. couldnt they have still done it?

If the: Heart rate is too high, the cardiac motion creates an artifact that distorts anatomic detail and can make the scan essentially useless. The higher the heart rate, the worse it is. Better to try to get it right another day than to perform a scan that has a good chance of not providing any answers.

Q: i had a cta of the heart. they found a nodule on my right lung. would a cta of the heart show both lungs?

Staging CT: At this point you need a staging CT scan to evaluate your thorax and the rest of your body then consultation with a thoracic surgeon.

Q: had ct angiogram w contrast. now card wants nuc stress test. nurse said the pulm ordered cta and just lungs looked at. doesn't cta look at heart too?

May be: The pul, doc ,if looking for pulmonary embolism it may not help but can see calcification on-the coronary artery if not a dedicated CTA for coronary calcium score it is not adequate and also this doesn't give a accurate status of stenosis . Stress test is the best option.a calcium score by itself shows there is coronary atherosclerosis not severity of disease

Q: i had a coronary cta and calcium score that was normal 6 months ago. i do have wolff-parkinson-white syndrome but does the cta prove no heart attack?

CTA and heart attack: A cta does not prove one has had a heart attack (mi). It onlyshows the anatomy of the coronary arteries. If they are diseased, you are more prone to developing a mi. Ekg's can show the presence of an acute mi or an old one. At age 18, you are a bit you to have a cta. What was your physician (p) thinking when the p ordered the study?

Metoprolol: The tartrate is the shorter half time form and is likely what the xray folks suggested for taking nite before and 2hrs before. The succinate is a longer half time drug.
