if a head & neck ct with contrast didn't show anything 6 months ago, what is the likelihood it would now?  still having pain and still no diagnosis.

Unlikely: Repeating a head CT would probably not show anything different if it was clear 6 mos ago. If the pain is severe your doctors might want to consider MRI which shows the soft tissue of the brain better than CT and gives you no radiation exposure. I hope you get some relief soon.

i have not had a bowl movement for over a week and a half only ribbon like stools. no appite but im still eating 3 times a day. i have lost 15lb so dr did a ct with iv contrast, they said everything looks good no mass. would the ct show colon cancer?

Not necessarily: Without colon preparation, CT scan may not detect colon carcinoma.
Talk to your doctor about the need for a colonoscopy.
You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term  increase your intake of fiber foods.

would a brain mri with and without contrast show any tumor of the sinuses and orbit? my mri says it is clear, but i am still worried as i ma having odd symptoms. my eye exam and sinus ct do not show anything?

Superior imaging: The use of "contrast" in a ct scan enhances the imaging of the blood vessels.  Typically, contrast is an iodine containing liquid, which "blocks" the passage of x-rays.  The ability to see the blood vessels is far superior when contrast is used.

Pancreatitis: It can. You can see inflammatory changes around the pancreas. It would be difficult to assess for necrosis of pancreatic tissue which is seen in severe pancreatitis without IV contrast though.

less accurate: While there is controversy about the liberal use of ct scans for the diagnosis of appendicits, it does increase accuracy of diagnosis.  There are several parameters on ct scan that are used to diagnose or exclude appendicitis: visualization of the appendix, free fluid around the appendix, blurred fat or fat stranding around the base of the appendix and free air in the area of the appendix.

Many things: Structures of neck include lymph nodes, blood vessels, muscles, airway, salivary glands,  and bones. Any abnormalities of these structures including tumors, post traumatic changes, degenerative changes, and congenital variations.

Yes: Most commonly are tumors from the gastrointestinal tract. Stomach, small intestine, appendix, colon. Can occur in the lungs too. Most of the times are asymptomatic until they are advance and cause carcinoid syndrome(tachycardia, flushing, tremors, high blood pressure, sweating episodes, diarrhea)  commonly metastasize to the liver. Ct scan will help in the diagnosis.

how does pancreatitis show up in the ct ? how does previous pancreatitis show up in the scan with constrast?

Pancreatitis: Acute pancreatitis will show up as inflammation in the pancreas. Previous pancreatitis should not be visible unless there is still some inflammation present. If chronic pancreatitis develops, calcification or changes in the size and appearance of the pancreas are possible.
