Yes: U/s may "see" a dilated ureter, but the echo bounces off the stone.  Ct has replaced the intravenouspyelogram (ivp).  Blood in urine, microscopic or gross is key.

Stone may have passe: A couple of possibilities are that the stone has passed and is no longer there.  Another possibility is that the stone is just obscured and not able to be seen.  This could be due to overlying bony structures or stool.  Sometimes if the image is blurry, small stones can be very difficult to see even if they are still present.

1 in 2000 : Estimated risk of cancer from a CT scan is 1 in 2000.  This means is that if 2000 people get a CT, one may eventually get a cancer related to the exposure. CT is fastest &amp; most accurate way to see and measure stone. Ultrasound sees if kidneys are blocked, but often can't find the stone. X-ray will only see large stones (most stones are small). You can ask for a limited CT, from kidney to bladder.

CT scans are: more accurate than ultrasound for diagnosis of kidney stones and other anatomical abnormalities of kidneys such as tumors.  If you are having painless hematuria, this condition raises suspicion of possible tumor in urinary tract.

Yes, on chest ct : Hiatal hernia should be able to be visualized on a chest ct unless it is very small .  It usually wouldn't be visualized on liver/gallbladder ultrasounds.  It might be visualized on x rays if it is large enough.

Shortness of breath: or Breathlessness can be caused by many factors. 22 year olds very rarely have heart failure especially after negative cardiac workup, You should follow up with your Doctor to look for the cause in you.

Depends: This depends on the organ of interest. This is not uncommon with the ovaries and uterus as us has an advantage. This is same with the breasts as well. As for other organs in the abdomen, sometimes it may depends on the patient's body habitus or lack of intravenous contrast/dye that some finding may not be apparent on ct.

CT show more.: An ultrasound study is heavily dependent on the skills of the technologist. The us also does not typically see everything in the pelvis, particularly with regard to the bowels (colon, rectum, appendix) and does not see structures outside of the uterus or ovaries well such as lymph nodes. A ct study also can show the bones whereas this is typically not possible with us.

Cysts: It sounds like you are talking about cysts by the measurements.  If you had an ultrasound where cysts were seen, drs usually order a ct scan to confirm.  Ultrasound is very sonographer dependent.  This is why a more objective test like the ct scan is ordered.  Most cysts are considered "incidentalomas" meaning they were found, but are not clinically significant.  Hope this helps!
