More information: Ultrasound can better assess if the cyst is simple, has blood products in it, or is a associated with a soft tissue mass. Color doppler on ultrasound further adds information about blood flow around the cyst. You should know the great majority of ovarian cysts are  benign but your doctor can better know from the ultrasound if there is anything concerning or if a followup ultrasound would be useful.

CT always better: CT is always better than ultrasound but for screening purposes the ultrasound causes no radiation effect.  If multiple CTs were performed over time the RT could be significant.  The ultrasound can tell whether a lesion is solid or cystic and whether the latter is simple or complex.  The CT can show detail not seen on ultraound.

15 y/o: It may be followed by serial ultrasounds. A diagnostic laparoscopy with removal may also be suggested.

Possibly: No test is 100% perfect and anything can be missed on any diagnostic test especially if it is small.  In general ultrasound is best for imaging the female reproductive organs and is much less expenxive than a ct or mri.

yes: Yes, if it is large enough. Ct will usually detect ovarian cysts 10mm or larger, but an ultrasound is a better way to evaluate the ovaries and does not utilize radiation.

Likely to see cyst: We can see pelvic pathology fairly well on ct scans, including cysts, but as cysts are usually fluid filled, ultrasounds are better at visualizing those types of structures so that might be  better test for you.

Depends: Survival time will depend upon what the diagnosis is. The ovarian cyst and the enlarged lymph nodes may be unrelated to each other. You need further evaluation and biopsy of the enlarged lymph nodes if appropriate.

Differential: A CT scan can give you what doctors call a differential diagnosis of an ovarian cyst: it will limit the possibilities to a reasonable list of what it might be. No imaging study ever diagnoses 100% what an ovarian mass is.

hello i did a ct scan and the results says impression (1) acyesis (2) ovarian cyst by acyesis does it mean i cant conceive? some one should please help, its urgent. thanks?

: Since "acyesis" is defined as "the inability to conceive", it is difficult to understand how a "CT scan at age 26" could determine this to be factual.  Consult your GYN physician who ordered the CT scan for how this opinion could be rendered.  If you do not have prior surgery (as with a hyterectomy, for example) it would take further testing to determine your fertility capacity.

would ct scan show ovarian cyst? my gyno said it should show a large one. she wants to do a u/s so im doing that this week. the biggest cyst i ever had was 4 cm. it was quite painful. that was years ago?

: Ultrasound will diagnose accurately an ovarian cyst .  A "CT" is generally not required for this. Ask your GYN physician about low dose oral bcp's, not simply for contraception, but also to reduce symptoms of pre-menopause and reduce spontaneous cyst formation.
