Crypts: Do you mean tonsil crypts? they are not dangerous but can be the cause of tonsil stones and recurrent infections and pain. If you gargle after meals to keep the crypts clear, then you wont have problems. If it does become a chronic problem then tonsillectomy is the definitive treatment.

Sore Throat: The best treatment for a site throat depends on the cause of the sore throat.   If you have strep, you need an antibiotic.   If you have a virus, you need hydration, rest, and symptom control. Another cause of sore throats is post nasal drip from allergies.    Gargling with warm salt water can help some with all of them.

Throat lozenges and Tylenol or Motrin can temporarily help lessen pain.

Prevent dehydration. Fluids may help thin secretions and soothe an irritated throat.

Use nonprescription throat lozenges.
