Probably normal: The nature and volume of the vaginal discharge will vary through the cycle. At the time of ovulation the discharge becomes thinner and the volume increases.  At the point you note - you would have already ovulated and you may be seeing the inherent increase in discharge. After a few more days the discharge will usually decrease - as the time for the period approaches.

Vaginal discharge: Vaginal discharge can be very worrisome sometimes. By what you described it could be a simple vaginitis or candidiasis. Also a normal cervical mucous its sometimes seen before a period. Patients your age must rule out cervical cancer and ovarian or fallopian tubes disease. Those can also have abnormal vaginal secretions. Most commonly its just due to hormonal changes right before your period.

Maybe nothing, STD?: If it happened only once and the discharge hasn't continued, it probably isn't meaningful. But if it continues more than a few days, or clears up but keeps returning, get professionally examined. There are many causes of discharge, but STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas) are among them. So don't take chances, especially if you you or your partner might have other partners.

Candida (yeast)?: Your symptoms resemble yeast infection, also called candida and monilia. Are you near your period? Have you been taking antibiotics? Do you have diabetes or high blood glucose ("sugar")? These factors can increase the chance for candida. This infection can improve with over-the-counter vagina creams or tablets.
