You need individual: instruction. For most, It would be fairly safe to recommend a few simple cervical stretches for range of motion and flexibility, but if you truly have instability in the setting of Ehlers-Danlos, then any exercises need to be specifically prescribed for you.  Bracing and corrective surgery also play a role in the treatment of joint complications.Continue to work with your doctors, esp Cardiologist

i had a supine mri cervical spine done and was reported as normal. i have symptoms of cervical instability and i measured cxa of 127 degrees, grabb oakes 8.9mm and harris measurement of 12.7mm, no chiari malformation. could 'normal' report be wrong?

: The numbers are not normal with MRI taken at a supine position and they are probably consistent with your condition, cervical instability; however, you should talk to the doctor who ordered the MRI or the radiologist who was reading the images.

: In view of an essentially negative workup, I suspect chronic tension in occipital muscles. The cracking sound crepitus is a nondiagnostic feature as far as pathology is concerned. If you think chronic stress or tension is at play, consider stress management therapy and relaxing techniques which I think will help relieve your symptoms.

Disc tearing: Torn cervical discs CAN "heal" in that the inflammation from the tear can be calmed and the tear can form some scar tissue.  The disc will never be "original equipment" again but the symptoms CAN be resolved on their own.  If the tear is associated with a herniation of the disc, the chance of this "healing" diminishes, as there is disc (nuclear) material in the tear, preventing healing.
