No on 2 counts: Statins don't cause leg cramps and potassium doesn't cure them. Statins can cause generalized aching and reduction of dose is usually all that's required to correct that. Sometimes switching drugs is needed. Leg cramps are very common and generally related to overstretch and overuse. Stretching and warm-up exercises done daily helps most people.

Consider omega- 3 fatty acids, magnesium (supplementation or through diet) or black cohosh with dr ok. Sipping chamomile & green tea can dissipate pain.  Ginger helps w nausea.

Sipping chamomile, ginger & green tea can dissipate pain. Avoid caffeine, chocolate, alcohol & salt. Warm bath, heating pad & acupuncture are excellent for dysmenorrhea. Get gyn eval – check magnesium & iodine levels & to rule out underlying pathology.

Diarrhea is common: Diarrhea is a common side effect with lansoprazole and other PPIs, and is seen in roughly 10% of patients taking these medication.  This is likely related to alterations in digestion due to acid being suppressed.  This diarrhea can often cause cramps as well.

Frequency, timing, & duration of symptoms? Bleeding? Sure you have ibs?

Lifestyle mods: Watch out for spicy and acidic foods (lemons, oranges, tomatoes).  Don't gorge at meals - eat smaller, but more frequent meals.  Avoid exercise and lying down right after eating or drinking.  Avoid alcohol (can cause stomach irritation), caffeine and tobacco.   If it's not improving on it's own, it's something you should see your doctor about.  Good luck!

Diarrhea: Most common causes would be a viral intestinal tract infection, mild food poisoning,  or an intolerance to something you are. Drink adequate fluids. Avoid harsh roughage, spicy and greasy foods, Take kopectate or Imodium according to instructions. If diarrhea persists much longer, you should have a stool culture to check for pathogenic bacteria and parasites and also check in with your MD

Many options: There are multiple options for painful periods.  Hormonal treatments such as birth control pills, Progesterone treatments and the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud are effective reversible treatments that will help many people. There is also a drug called Lysteda that contains no hormones which will help others.

Hormone Treatment: Gynecologists often put young females with this problem on low dose hormone treatment for a time to regulate and interfere with these extreme reactions.  Please have your mom take you in to see the family doctor or gynecologist.
