could my bronchitis turn into pneumonia if i can't cough up the mucus in my lungs my chest is now crackling instead of wheezing?

Possible: It is extremely beneficial to cough during bronchitis illness. A course of antibiotics and albuterol inhaler can help prevent  pneumonia. Have plenty of bed rest, take fluids and carbs for fast energy, advil (ibuprofen) for fever and generalized achiness.

Sarcoidosis: Anyone, but particularly someone with an underlying illness, who has compromised respirations should be seen by a doctor asap. Go now. If you cannot see your pcp right away, try an er or urgent care facility. Good luck and hope you are better soon.

Lungs: Crackles in your lung indicate pneumonia. A rash would be present if you have shingles. Be reassessed. All the best.

Most often no: Kids' lungs are quite resilient and a quite good at healing very well after infections. Even after severe infections. The vast majority of children recover extremely well after a pneumonia with no future problems.

Time, usually: Most forms of pneumonia in children do not produce permanent changes in lung tissues, and with time and gradual increases in physical activity your child should recover uneventfully.  If, however, they fail to do so, would strongly recommend they being seen by a pediatrician or pediatric pulmonologist.  Truly believe and hope this will not be needed.  Hope they get well soon.

Mgt: I would suggest monitoring your temperature, and being seen again by your PCP. The pneumonia may have recurred or resulted in a change in your airways .i would suggest pulmonary testing and an x ray.

Secretions: The rattling sound from lungs is generally due to vibrations produced by retained secretions (mucus/phlegm) in the airways (breathing tubes) in your lungs. Mucus buildup can be due to several reasons - infections, ineffective coughing, bronchitis, chronic smoking, exposure to air pollution etc. Have yr doctor examine you to ensure there are no problems with your lungs that need immediate attention.

Yes.: Pneumonia can be localized affecting just a small portion of the lung or widely distributed. When widely distributed, this could be referred to as multifocal or multilobar pneumonia.

Pleural effusion: Pleural effusion or fluid around lungs is a common complication of pneumonia, occurs in 30-40% and a lot of time depends on what type of bacteria causing pneumonia. Sometimes when it's not adequately drained first time, it may require repeat drainage or even chest tube or surgery. Other underlying medical problems such as heart conditions or weakened immune system or smoking also prolong recovery

Lung infection: pneumonia is lung infection and can be caused by mostly virus or bacteria. Generally some fluid accumulation may be associated with pneumonia but sometimes larger amounts of fluid accumulate surrounding the lung, which may need to be drained.
