clicking when swallowing. could my hyoid bone be hitting my thyroid cartilage? hyoid bone is very loose too. causes pain.

Hyoid click: Doubtful- the clicking is common with a lax hyoid and as long as your thyroid is normal in size and shape, do not panic. Good idea to make an appointment for an ultrasound of the thyrod and a medical exam.

when swallowing, something in sidemy throat seems to be moving and pressing hard against the wall of my throat, it's below thyroid cartilage. also i feel sick almost like my stomache is squeezed everytime i swallow saliva.

Ans: You need to see an ENT to possibly be scoped. Think if you swallows somethings earlier and perhaps got stuck in your throat. Go back to when you first noticed the problem. Don't waste time in being seen for this. Go to your pmd and get referred

2 days ago i felt like something in my throat/neck was loose and every time i swallowed it would be like cartilage rubbing together. then yesterday the whole adams apple area was sore to touch. saw dr,he said he didnt know. any ideas what it is?

Cartilage and ribs: The 6-9th ribs share a common cartilagenous connection with the sternum.   You may have had a cartilage separation - very painful but usually due to high force trauma.   You may also have costochondritis - which is a painful inflammation of that joint.    A rib x-ray should be able to give some clues.

the tip of my nose (on they left) is very sore to the touch at certain angles, and feels almost like the cartilage is crackling, esp when wearing a mask. when i take off my mask, it is red for sometime after. is this something to be xrayed?

Maybe not: An x-ray has limitations. When used it is most helpful when assessing tissues that have a lot of contrast between the structures. (bone/air/tissue)The area cited does not so a simple x-ray would be unlikely to yield much info. The first study would be an exam done after a review of your symptom history.

i have had a crackling noise when i swallow and also a moracalike noise everytime i take a step. i was wondering what might be causing this?

Next dr visit: It's common to hear the eustachian tubes when opening or when you try to make it happen.  This is the cracking sound you are describing.  If you aren't in pain, the next time you see your doctor bring it up so they make sure things all check out!  Hope this helps!

Regeneration: The answer is simple:  your bone can regenerate whereas cartilage cannot.  Once the cartilage is gone, it is gone.  It can only be replaced by a live transplant.
