i have seasonal allergies right now.  developed cold sore on nose.  have cpap machine with "nasal pillows " type mask.. is it safe to use abriva .

Try a different mask: I don't think using Abreva would be a problem but that nasal pillow will severely slow healing. The CPAP company ought you provide you, on your doctor's order, a different mask which won't touch that area. 
Also, are you sure it is a cold doer and not an ulcer produced by the nasal pillow?

Need ENT: evaluation to determine the nature of the lesion.  There are a number of possibilities and visualization is required to distinguish between them.  A biopsy may be required.

i recently switched from a full cpap mask to one that covers the nose. it makes my nose burn when i use it. how can i make it stop?

?humididfier: Most times with the use of any CPAP, the addition of a humidifier can be helpful in reducing the side effects on the nose. Try that and hope it helps. Good health.

Bacitracin: I assume it is the outside of the nose.  If so try otc  Bacitracin 2-3 times daily.  If not better or recurs then consider allergic reaction to the mask materials.

its hard for me to breathe through my nose while on cpap, i get hot and feel like im suffocatin. should i just do it anyway? mouth is easier to breath

Adjustment needed: Call your doc since it can be adjusted by the CPAP  company.You should not have any discomfort using the equipment.

It shouldnt: Please call the company that services your cpap. The humidifier is probably not working correctly.

i have sleep apnoea and use a cpap machine but my nose hurts due to dryness etc' i use the "2 small pillow" type, what can i do to help the problem?

Humidify: Check with the equipment supplier, they can often make adjustments or add humidifier.

is it normal to become really congested while using cpap with built-in humidifier? every night i have to keep blowing my nose and use saline spray

Nasal CPAP: It is possible that there are irritants or particles in the CPAP apparatus that are triggering an allergic response. If it is humidified, unlikely to be a moisture issue. You might need to clean or replace.

just got cpap, getting over bad cold. nose too irritated to use but know shop, doc, ins. watching for stats. performance anxiety from pressure! help?

Performance: anxiety of any sort normally fades over time.  We habituate to the new experience, like not feeling the watch or ring we wear after a short time.  I've seen C-PAP help many.  Peace and good health.  The machine is doing the work, not you, so its the one that can have the performance anxiety!

can cpap machine use irritate the trachea? it was sore when the doctor pressed on it. pressure is set at 11cm.

Accepted Answer

Probably not: Irritation of the sinuses, face (from the mask), and inside of the mouth and throat are not uncommon with cpap, but tenderness of the neck on the outside is not likely to be related to CPAP use.
