Possibly yes: I would see a dermatologist or your pcp to confirm that the rash on the thigh is a fungal infeciton. They usually perform a KOH prep to confirm it if it is not clinically obvious. If that is the case, there is a possibility that it can be transmitted from a fungal infection from your spouse.

You want to : Stop the sweating and then treat the athletes foot. An antiperspirant can be used. Then an antifungal. 
Soaking in warm water and tea bags helps as well as it helps dry up the sweat glands in the feet, .

: If you wash and keep feet dry and use antifungal powder and clean and clip toenails you will be fine . Don't wear socks, the fungus thrives in moist environments. Don't share any footwear and keep sheets clean and dry.

The only connection: I can conjure up would be if he developed a fungal infection to his hernia site, which is pretty rare. If that is the case, he would need oral anti-fungal medicine, but only after a positive fungal culture of the hernia site.  I have to admit, though, this is a stretch.  I like the idea of a second opinion.

my skin is flaking on my scrotum.  i was told to get athletes foot cream to rub on it.  its is not going away what should i do? i used athletes foot cream, non-scented lotion, however vaseline seems to work best.  but im wondering if there is anything els

How : How long did you use the athlete's foot cream? It can take a few weeks of using it twice a day for you to notice an improvement. Have you tried changing your soap? It may be extremely dry, which is why the vaseline is working. You can try a heavy cream (in a jar) like eucerin or aquaphor. If the problem persists you should see your doctor for an evaluation and treatment.

can i combine lamasil cream and tolnaftate spray at the same time during treatment for athletes foot? it is hard for the cream to cover the whole sole of my foot. i just wanted to check that using both wont affect its effectiveness?

: No, you can use  simultaneously. Keeping the feet clean and dry.  Also, you can use an anti-perspirant spray on your feet to help control the moisture. This alone may resolve any long term need of medication.  Only if infection is present.
