Bronchitis: This sounds like your cold moved into your chest and how you have bronchitis. This typically last for about a month but last 6 weeks or longer in about 25% of folks. It is usually caused by a virus so antibiotics won't help much. You should see your doc to make sure you haven't developed pneumonia or one of the more common forms of bronchitis known as asthma (or cough variant asthma).

cough for 6 weeks. now have headache, 4+ days, more like pains in my head, worse when cough. for 6+ years sometimes had pain above l eye when pressed?

Cough: See your doctor for the cough and makes sure you dont have pneumonia or cough asthma.For the headaches steam, saline sprays, OTC decongestants(dont take them late at night) and ibuprofen will help. For that long term above the eye pain you should get a ct scan sinuses to check for chronic sinusitis

: Dr. Google can be dangerous. I recommend getting a one month subscription to uptodate.com ($20) &amp; read every thing there about GERD &amp; mouth/throat cancer. Worth the time &amp; money &amp; may even save your life.

Reflux can cause the cough if your stomach contents come up &amp; go down your larynx into lungs Gravity never sleeps so putting the head of you bed on 4-8" blocks may help a lot. Discus with Dr.

i've had a tickly cough for 6 weeks and have a small white spot on left side of throat should i be worried?

Maybe: Any cough that is lasting that long should be evaluated, regardless of the white patch . The white patch could be from many things and could be related, but i would focus more on the ongoing cough. See your doctor and get checked out-it's been long enough.

Seek a pulmonologist: Chronic cough has multiple causes, defined as a cough lasting more than 8 weeks.  Post nasal drip, GI-reflux disease, asthma, medications, bronchitis including lung or THYROID cancer.  Details of the history such as clearing throat, symptoms after food, symptoms with exertion are all useful to sort out the cause and requires a detailed history and physical by a lung specialist or internist.

what would cause me to have a cough for six weeks? it is productive with mostly clear mucus but occasionally green. constantly clearing my throat from mucus buildup but not sure if its from drainage or from lungs. been fatigued as well. any ideas?

: There are many conditions associated with a prolonged cough. The green color of your mucus may be associated with an infection. A chronic infection including TB should be considered. A sample of the sputum and a course of antibiotics after discussion with your PCP may be considered. A chest image may also be useful as indicated. Keep well hydrated, monitor your temperature and avoid smoke.

Nasal Steroid: Speak to your PCP about adding a nasal steroid to your regimen such as Flonase or nasonex (mometasone). Sometimes the pills dont control symptoms enough alone.

Cough: You need to see your doctor and get a chest xray. Maybe bronchitis, pneumonia or cough asthma. See the doctor soon. For the rib warm compresses and ibuprofen may help but with the coughing there is a small chance you may have a fracture

If you can tell us what is the pill you have been taking, it will help us to narrow down the potential causes.  We need more details such as (1) Any type of mucus? (2) What triggers it (cold air, exercise, eating etc)
(3)Any nasal discharge? (4) Any shortness of breath?
