i was drinking soda and suddenly i couldnt swallow it and it wouldnt go down or up it was just in my throat. i didnt cough or anything but after trying hard to swallow, it went down. how do i know if it went down the right pipe?

If not coughing: If not coughing and not having trouble breathing, then a person can assume she swallowed the soda down the correct pipe. If the soda went down the wrong pipe, a normal person would be coughing uncontrollably until the soda comes back out of the wrong pipe, or until the soda got neutralized or otherwise diluted so that it is no longer irritating to the lungs (that's where wrong-way soda goes).

Think acid: The fizzz you enjoy comes from carbonic acid.This is the same acid (at a different strength) that was originally used in the early 1900's to steralize the body surface prior to surgery.Soda's ph is very acidic.  Consider the sugar, where one/day can add 12 pounds of useless fat to your body. As junk foods go, it is not as bad as some.But it provides no nutritional value.

Water=best drink: Without water, we cannot exist....Nearly 3/4 of your body is water-weighted. With that said, it does not mean you have to drink "clear-water" to live. Juice, milk, sodas/coffee/tea etc..Are actually mostly water..So you can live on these..But not recommended because of the junks in them--sugar/fructose, preservatives/colorings etc..Are the bad parts, not the water part..
Water=best drink on earth.

Yes, but all sugar: If one is truly underweight (based on height, family background, and body type), a Dr. can evaluate for a hormonal, digestive, or other disorder. If no medical cause is found, then one can add weight by eating more calories of nutritious foods, while also doing weight-training to increase muscle. Proteins: egg white, chicken breast, salmon, ...  Better fats: olive oil, peanuts, almonds, tofu, ....

Agree w Dr. Tucker.: Regular soda contain a huge amount of sugar. So when you ingest it - insulin is released &amp; then your blood sugar levels drop down and you feel tired. Possibly: Phosphoric acid in cola-like  sodas  leaches calcium out of the bone. However this was not found to be the case with clear sodas like Mountain Dew, Sprite or ginger ale. The cola -like sodas can decrease bone mineral density (BMD)  (at least in some women).

How much soda: It would depend on how much soda you drink.  I rarely drink soda so, for me, not much if any weight loss.  If you drink a can or more a day, add up all the calories and drinking water instead will result in some weight loss eventually.  For example.  If a can of soda has 200 calories, and you drink 1 per day = 1400/wk.  This would be a lot of calories eliminated per week.

Soda and dialysis: When a dialysis patient drinks soda (s), two important things need to be considered. The first is how much potassium is in the it. Colas and citrus flavored s have high potassium levels which may cause a problem. Another consideration is the amount of fluid ingested. A 12 ounce can of sodium as about 330 cc of fluid.  Dialysis patients need to watch their fluid intake. Ask your nephorologist.
