No!!!: You will be under local anesthesia.  Sometimes, after a root canal treatment, there is some soreness.  This can almost always be covered with some minor pain killers.  Antibiotics are also frequently used.
Rarely, there is a real flare up and an emergency visit or a stronger pain killer is needed.
Remember, i said rarely.

No: It is normal to wear out some of the temporary filling.  However, it is not good to have the temporary filling completely out.   Once the inside of the tooth is exposed to contaminants like saliva, bacteria and food, root canal will become contaminated and eventually leak.  Go back to your dentist right the way to have it checked.

As long as the damage does not extend past- both the outer enamel and inner dentin- you are fine. Once the pulp tissue has been damged, it (nerve tissue) needs to be removed. Hence , the need for a root canal filling, as opposed to merely a tooth filling.

Endodontists recommend redoing the root canlal if it has been exposed to the oral cavity for more than 2 weeks
it will eventually hurt.

Root canal vs fillin: A filling is done when bacteria has caused a cavity in a tooth.  If the cavity penetrates deep enough into the tooth an infection can occur causing pain and swelling.  This is an infection of the root canal system. In the latter case you'll need a root canal.  If your dentist tells you that you have a cavity, don't wait, it can and will progress to needing a root canal over time.
