Depends on multiple : Factors. Ex. Where it is being injected; some areas of the body are more responsive to cortisone than others. It depends on reason 4 injection. For inflammatory or degenerative joint pathologies, depends on how bad the degeneration/inflammation is, how bad the pressure on the nerve is, what your "genetics" is with susceptibility to inflammation, how much daily stress the body area is subjected to.

Very rarely: Cortisone can rarely do this but the effects would be very short-lived. The anxiety is more likely related to the injection itself rather than what was injected.

Noninvasive measures: I assume you are getting epidural steroid injections for back or neck pain. Your best bets would be a combination of biofeedback for control of nerve pain and muscle spasms, and pilates for strengthening of the spinal muscles. Additionally, aquatic therapy would be a more soothing form of back strengthening. Try to minimize medications.

It would be : Good to know diagnosis you plan on using them for. In some instances, they are helpful. You do not want to ovutilize them and you do want to be cautious around tendons.

Cortisone shot: Corticosteroids injected into small patches of hair loss (alopecia) may stimulate hair growth.  The eyebrows, scalp, etc. May respond to a series of tiny injections.  See your dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment options.

Depends: If the location of the cortisone shot is into joints, Rheumatologists do this.  If in to the back, often Pain Clinic doctors, Interventional Radiologists, and/or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation doctors will do it.  If in to the foot, Podiatrists may do it. Primary care doctors may feel comfortable doing a limited range of cortisone shots (e.g., just in to knees or shoulders, etc.).

Yes: They will help with the inflammation but don't forget about:
•  rest. 
•  ice to the affected area. 
•  take an over-the-counter pain reliever.. 
•  wear proper shoes. 
•  try shock-absorbing insoles. 
•  use metatarsal pads. 
•  consider arch supports.

Common procedure: However, these injections are still very controversial. Check with a board certified back pain specialist. And even these guys may be overusing it. Do not expect miracles from these "shots".
