Contact lenses: It is usually fine to take a nap with contacts.  If you have very dry eyes this may cause irritation. It may be a good idea to put artificial tears in before or after the nap to keep the contacts moist.

Not melt : But they can adhere tightly and thus be more difficult to remove. Never sleep in your contact lenses. You could get a blinding corneal infection.

Corneal edema: Sleeping with contacts in can cause swelling of the cornea due to a lack of oxygen. It also increases the risk of a corneal ulcer which can damage your vision.

Usually nothing: Unless this happens with hard lenses, there is little likelihood that you will have a problem if you sleep overnight with a lens in.  Hard lenses can prevent oxygen transmission and you might developed an erosive syndrome which will clear when you remove the lens for several days.   As a general rule, if the eyes become red for any reason or the vision drops, then take out the lens until cleared.

Do not : Do not sleep with contacts in, but if you do then signs of a problem would be pain, redness, blurred vision.  Anything out of the ordinary.

No: You risk many serious eye problems if you sleep in contact lenses.  There are two kinds that have been approved for this however.  Discuss it with your ophthalmologist.

Can be: There are contacts that advertise that their contact lenses can be worn over night and for 30 days.  Most over night contact lenses are to be replaced every two weeks. It only takes one bad infection to damage the eye. If wearing contact lenses over night replace them every two weeks to avoid any eye damage.".
