Yes and no: Constipation no DEhydration yes. Make sure your son if he is an athlete is well hydrated. It could also be true if your son has some kind of liver disorder. If this is not true I would then just watch.

A big factor..: Significant stress can change for dietary/sleep habits as well as lowering your fluid intake which can affect your gut/intestinal function, hence causing your constipation etc..Try to get stress relief, aerobic exercise, eat well, drink plenty of fluid will likely help. If not, then consult doc to check for possible thyroid problem etc..Many meds can cause such as well..Good luck.

Lots of things: Think first whether any medication you might be taking is causing cholestatic jaundice, or whether you might have smoldering viral hepatitis, might be drinking a lot, or might really need to get more exercise -- the latter's a factor in genetically predisposed individuals who get non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. Especially if this is new, do get worked up.

: It sounds pretty normal. Humans require fiber for healthy bowel movements. Consider making dietary fiber a regular part of your diet. This doesn't have to come through supplements, minimally processed plant foods (fruit, vegetables, beans, nuts/seeds, whole grains) will suffice.

See your Dr: If in doubt,  stop isotretinoin. "Slightly" elevated bilirubin needs to be evaluated in context. Various details are needed for analysis of this. The answer has numerous conclusions to be determined only after careful exam and lab.

: Yes, some are notorious of causing constipation, diuretics and calcium channel blockers, such as Amlodipine among others have constipation among their most common side effects.

i take 500-80mg of magnesium daily which cures my constipation. ast & alt were high last test. could magnesium be a cause? i thought mag helped liver?

Not the cause: I am glad you have found magnesium salts to be an effective laxative and hope you need to use this only occasionally. This is not the cause of your elevated enzymes and if they stay up, they need to be worked up to rule out hepatitis, hemochromatosis, and Wildon's. Loading up on magnesium is of no special benefit to your liver.

what is the most likely cause of inflammation and very high calprotectin in a 25 year old. i have no symptoms of ibd apart from the occasional constipation. worried about cancer. getting urgent colonoscopy and scared?

: As you've already been advised, cancer is exceedingly unlikely at your age, and does not cause elevated calprotectin. Without more symptoms, it is difficult to guess at the reason for "urgent" colonoscopy. Discuss with your doctor. Good luck.
