Constipation would: Not make my top 10 list of things occuring with urinary bladder cancer. Constipation is quite common in both sexes, usually related to diet, but can be related to bowel problems.  The urinary system is quite independent until we get to very advanced cases at either end.  If you are constipated, scratch bladder cancer of the list of worries, but go talk about natural dietary changes first.

Maybe, but unlikely: Constipation and low back pain should be evaluated by a health care professional. Blood in the urine (either seen or found on a urinalysis) is usually the first sign of bladder cancer.

Accepted Answer

No: The amount of blood seen in the urine does not correlate with the degree of tumor invasion into the bladder muscle. The gold standard to determine the extent of invasion into the bladder muscle is to perform a special biopsy and evaluate for muscle invasion. One can have a little bleeding in the urine with a lot of muscle invasion or a lot of bleeding without muscle invasion.

Will remain: Best results are for lesions of the mucosa.  Once bladder wall invaded, especially with extension beyond the bladder then depending on overall situation, radical cystectomy with neobladder utilized.  If lesion too advanced primary lesion therapy may be relegated to local RT chemo for control of symptoms.

my ct showed mild circumferential bladder wall thickening. what does that mean? i am worried about bladder cancer and following up with urologist.

Good plan. : Good plan. Your urologist will check on cancer by either cystoscope and biopsy or cytology.  Or both.  you did not mention how long you have had trouble  it sounds like chronic cystitis but the exact diagnosis will be done with the evaluation.

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Prostatic enlargement, prostate cancer and urinary bladder cancer are rare at your age. It would be prudent to see a doctor, preferably a urologist. Wish you good health!

Here are some…: Congratulation for experiencing favorable response to chemo &amp; radiotherapy for stage IV cancer.  The bladder wall thickening with subsequent more urinary frequency is entirely expected. I'm sure your doctor will instruct you how to cope with it. Of note, despite favorable response, a lifelong follow-up it is still needed. For more individual detail, ask your urologist &amp; oncologists.  Best wish…

i had bladder cancer and had removal of bladder and total hysterectomy. now have kidney disease. had ct on my abdomen pelvis . conclusion was parenchymal thinning w/persistent lv ureterectasis. thickening of the wall of the renal pelvis and proximal urete

Ask your urologist..: All what you experienced is expected in some patients and results from delayed, but expected in some, complications with scar formation leading to ureteral blockage &amp; high pressure above it. Over time, renal pelvis becomes distended, renal tissue becomes thinning, the wall of renal pelvis &amp; ureter becomes thicker. Oftentimes &amp; to a degree, chronic recurrent UTI may play a role to such appearance.
