Yes and no: The removal of the palatine tonsils can reduce the "intensity" of illness when you get strep in the future, but it does not prevent you from getting it. After the tonsils are removed, there are still tissues and glands in the throat that can become infected, with the same risk of immune mediated complications.

See your doctor: Strep throat is spread by contact with someone with strep so if you have children you might be getting it from them or if you are around children-
It is important that you have a strep culture every time and not just someone looking in and saying it is strep
Removing the tonsils can help and you may want to ask your doctor about seeing an ENT doctor

U R Compromised: Strep is in your mouth all of the time. It is an opportunistic bacteria and you may have been compromised. Gargle with listerine without alcohol several times per day. Use a saline nose spray. If not better in a few days see your doctor.
