Local wound care: Local wound care usually involves washing with a gentle soap and water twice daily, applying antibiotic ointment and monitoring for signs of infection.  Increased redness, swelling and pain, especially when combined with the appearance of pus indicates an infection which should be evaluated by a primary care physician.

Scab: This scab may be from the nose running and continual wiping. However it could also be a herpes cold sore for which these is treatment. See your physician for advice.

: It sounds like your sinuses may be involved and at the root of your symptoms. A focused exam will be needed, checking nostrils and for sinus tenderness. Your primary care doc would be best to get the workup started.

Dryness, infection: It is very common for the front of the nose to be infected due to local irritation, nose blowing and dryness. Mucous will form in the nose which can lead to scabbing and irritation. You might want to try some Bacitracin ointment inside your nostrils several times a day. There is also a product called ponaris oil which is like chapstick for the nose. This can be very helpful as well.

Dry: Most of the time, the nose is crusty because it is dry. See an ENT  for exam. Simple measures to help include nasal saline mist or nasal gel. Other problems may be present that need attention, so see md.

Painful Scabs: To prevent scabs from forming which slow down the healing process, try using aquaphor ointment 2-4 times a day on the septoplasty.

Thanks for asking!: Vasoline can help with scabs in the nose but, it is very thick and may impair your breathing ability.  I would recommend something that is really made for the nose, over the counter at your local drug store.  Then prevent getting scabs in the nose if you can.

Snot!: Elegantly described "crusting" is normal.  Large amounts may indicate sinus infection or may be related to a deviated septum, hole in the septum, dehydration, etc.  You may try vaseline in the nose and saline rinse / spray as simple over-the-counter treatment.
