Dryness, infection: It is very common for the front of the nose to be infected due to local irritation, nose blowing and dryness. Mucous will form in the nose which can lead to scabbing and irritation. You might want to try some Bacitracin ointment inside your nostrils several times a day. There is also a product called ponaris oil which is like chapstick for the nose. This can be very helpful as well.
