Wheezing chest: I assume you do not suffer from asthma. In which case one must seriously consider the incidence of pulmonary embolism in the post-partum period. You are at much higher than usual risk due to the recent pregnancy. Keep wearing your DVT stockings, move around as much as you can and see your gynae asap for the wheezing.

i've had chronic chest congestion and shortness of breath after the flu. antibiotics and steroids didn't help. it's not tb. any suggestions?

Pulmonologist: You need to see a pulmonary disease specialist.  How long has it been since you had the  flu? It may just take more time. If you smoke (hopefully not), of course you must stop. You may have allergies that have been unmasked.  You may have an anatomic obstruction like a bronchial polyp. Many possibilities.

Viral syndrome?: This sounds like a viral syndrome, but it could of course be something more serious like angina-equivalent as well.  I would have my primary care physician check me out first and obtain a chest x-ray and an ekg.

Expected: With an upper respiratory tract infection to have some shortness of breath, especially at night, lower airways can be affected too causing such, if you are really suffering see your doctor, you may need some inhaler bronchodilator to use as needed during this attack of upper respiratory tract infection, or may need to see an allergist for comprehensive assessment,  goodluck

Cold or allergies: Your symptoms can be from a wide variety of ailments. How long have you been suffering from these symptoms? If they recur continuously, you may be suffering from nasal allergies and secondary asthma. If this is an acute problem you may be suffering from an infection.

Consider additional: Consider additional pulmonary testing if the cardiac echo is negative.  If you have exercise induced asthma, treatment is available.
