how much time do you recommend that a couple waits before trying to conceive after miscarriage?  i know these answers vary.  i'm trying to get some opinions.

Conception: After miscarriage.  You must remember that even though you miscarried you were pregnant and that is a big stress on your body from which you need to recovery.  You also need to grieve, both of you.  Because of this I generally recommend my patients wait 4-6 months to start trying again. It is normal to feel like it may happen again so you will worry a lot.  May your God be with you.

Assuming : Your LMP was February 22nd if you have a regular 28 days cycle  you will ovulate on the march 8th. So today, tomorrow and day after will be your most fertile days. Good luck

i have uterine fibrod. whenever i have sex with my husband the sperm comes out. what's the cause? i have been trying to conceive after miscarriage

Accepted Answer

Normal: Every female has semen and vaginal fluid 'come out' after sex. That is the only route for the excess fluid to take. It is not in any way the cause of the difficulty you are having conceiving.  Sperm, if they are inside of the vagina, have one goal and that is to find the cervix and swim into it.

i've been prescribed metronidazole for dental infection. trying to conceive after miscarriage just over 3 months ago. age 43, i'm day 3 past ovulation of the two week wait. i am concerned if this antibiotic will affect implantation/conception? thanks?

: I would avoid pregnancy when you are taking this drug. Get past the infection &amp; let it get out of your system before you resume trying.

Accepted Answer

Three months: Most physicians will recommend at least three months, for multiple reasons.  Whether a spontaneous miscarriage or having had a d&c, one desire is to have the cervix regain it's strength of closure for future pregnancies.  Other beliefs are that the uterus has prepared the lining for a healthy pregnancy after a number of menstrual periods. The best answer is about 3 months.

2 menstrual cycles: It is possible to get pregnant within a few weeks of a miscarriage before you have had your next period.  I usually advise my patients to wait for a normal menstrual period.  Usually the period after a miscarriage is abnormal, it can be early or late, very heavy or light.  Wait until you have a normal period to let your body and hormones recover before trying for another pregnancy.

i can't conceive after my miscarriage, in last december. i am trying and getting frustrated. how can i conceive fast?

Patience: Nature cannot be rushed.  If you are young and healthy try to relax and let your body do its thing.  If is not considered "infertility" until you have been trying to get pregnant for a year.  In the mean time, make sure you are taking prenatal vitamins, eating right, avoiding smoking and alcohol.

i'm trying to conceive after a miscarriage, (from february) & my boyfriend smokes weed ! will it be harder for me to conceive. how can i prgnt faster?

He should stop: Try to talk him into stopping if he wants you to be pregnant. Marijuana lowers his testosterone level and can damage chromosomes in sperm. Even smoking cigarettes can lower the sperm count. Good luck  talking to him and best wishes for a pregnancy soon.

i'm on 75mg aspirin trying to conceive after 4 miscarriages. my period has come and is so light, could it be the aspirin? is this a good thing ttc?

Aspirin: Trials have reported that aspirin do not improve the live-birth rate of women with unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss. Low-dose aspirin is the only drug for which there is some evidence of benefit in reducing the risk of preeclampsia. Aspirin may increase the risk of bleeding. Aspirin is discontinued 5 to 10 days before expected delivery to diminish the risk of bleeding during delivery.
