TLC: Since colds are viral infection, there is no "magic medicine" for a cure. In infants, saline nose drops may be used to loosen nasal mucus before wiping or gentle suction. For severe congestion (swelling inside of the nose), over-the-counter phenylephrine nose drops (0.125%-0.25%) may be used every 4 hours if feeding or sleeping are significantly affected.

Treat symptoms: There is no treatment that will make a cold go away so you just need to treat the symptoms. For runny nose use an antihistamine like loratadine. For cough use robitussin DM or cough drops. For stuffy nose use a decongestant or nasal saline. For low grade fevers use tylenol.

No cure: Assuming no other cause for ongoing cough: Post-viral cough can persist for many weeks.Also we are experiencing an epidemic of the '100 day cough' (Whooping Cough). Your age group is considered to be the vector for this infection and also, there is no cure. Cough syrups containing pholcodeine (available over the counter) may give you some slight symptomatic relief but are not really very effective

Yes: The problem with eustachian tube dysfunction is finding what works for you.  You can try spray decongestants like afrin (but for no more than 3days), nasal steroids, oral decongestants (whatch your blood pressure!), oral steroids, etc.  You may need an ENT consult in the end.
