No: Valacyclovir works against herpes simplex and varicella zoster viruses.  It does not work against other viruses such as those that cause colds or influenza.

Nifedipine &amp; warmth: First try to dress warmly and not spend too much time in cold or the cold grocery aisle.  Ask your physician to start you on a calcium channel blocker such as nifedipine.   With these two actions you can decrease Raynauds events.

i had a cold fever on monday, was given antibiotics and pain medication for my body aches. i have lost taste in my mouth and my nostrils makes it impossible to breathe.

Symotins: If your nose is congested, you will need to breath through your mouth. The loss of taste can occur with many infections. Rest, hydrate, quarantine &amp; eat healthfully. Consider use of acetaminophen, saline for nasal irrigation, decongestant or cough syrup. Get urgent care for difficulty breathing, blue lips or face, marked persistent chest pain/ pressure or new onset confusion. Take care.

More Side Effects: Most cough & cold remedies include a decongestant which mimics adrenaline and can cause the heart to beat too fast, or make people feel shaky or lightheaded. Having too much thyroid hormone can also cause the heart to beat too fast, or make people feel shaky or lightheaded. Caffeine (coffee) and nicotine (smoking) can also do this. Combining two or three of these can make any symptoms much worse.

Nasal spray: You could try some simple saline nasal spray or prescription steroid and/or antihistamine nasal sprays... Very little of which are absorbed.

It can be tiresome,: But it's not much different than "i heard on the news"or "i read in cosmo " or  " my neighbor's doctor said ".Sometimes u have to learn to " roll with it".

Psych Meds: First of all it is difficult to accept that someone has a mental illness, also even now there is a taboo in society towards those who have mental illness.
Being in denial, society pressures, sometimes people with mania who are super happy and energized dont want to accept mental illness. Sometimes voices or paranoia may prevent patients from taking meds.

Direct assistance: You can devise systems that are easy to use, including weekly pill boxes, and even electric alarm-pillboxes.  You can also call the patient every time a med is due.  But.... The most reliable system would involve a caregiver actually dispensing the medicine at the appropriate time.
