Also, Cocaine can make your blood pressure go very high, and pregnant women are already prone to develop high blood pressure. These are just two of the reasons Cocaine or other illicit drugs are bad for a baby.

Brain injury: As difficult as it is to say, Cocaine use in pregnancy as been studied extensively and has been shown to be "neurotoxic" -- that is, it can injure the developing fetal brain, even with one dose. Cocaine use also dramatically increases the chances of miscarriage and premature labor, as well as "placental abruption" -- premature placental separation, and potential hemorrhage.

Yes: The children who were exposed to cacaine before birth often lag  in motor skills, especially fine motor skills, at least through two years of age.  In addition, Cocaine often induces premature labor and even causes stroke in newborn baby.

Absolutely not!: First of all, tell your treating  OB MD immediately of the above cocaine use so that the "addicted baby" can be properly treated at delivery. Moreover, your cocaine use is going to change the effectiveness of certain analgesic and anesthesia medications at the C/section  which may cause an adverse reaction jeopardizing your health if the Health Care Team is not aware. Get substance abuse help!

Neonatal addiction: Lots of loaded questions. They'll always do a urine test on you, due to your use. Many hospitals do these on all moms. If positive they'll do a urine &amp; meconium on the baby. If the UDS is neg, some hospitals will do it, due to your history. As far as taking the baby, there are many other factors that go in to that decision, besides the drug screen. Not sure: Whether you're asking about the late menstrual period, or the negative pregnancy tests.   Cocaine use can disrupt menstrual cycles, at least in rhesus monkeys and rats.  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9103482  Cocaine may also affect fertility, if you were trying to become pregnant.  However, if you're using Cocaine regularly, your potential baby is lucky you're not pregnant.

PREGNANCY: As long as you plan your having a baby, there is no problem having it. Length of marriage have nothing to do with it. The acceptance and love for the coming baby is all that matters.
